Immigration deportation defense

We will work with you every step of the way to make sure you understand the immigration process and ultimately make the best decisions. We are an experienced team in representing clients facing deportation from the United States. which process involves appearing before an Immigration judge at an Immigration Court.

Criminal defense

We help you making the best decisions in your criminal cases. We specialized in the defense of individuals, no matter their immigration status, charged with criminal activity, whether it is a misdemeanor or a much more complicated felony case.

Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA)

Family is the core of our goals.Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) is a type of immigration relief available to young people who came to the United States as children and who meet certain requirements. We ensure our clients meet those requirements to apply for DACA.

Asylum and Withholding of Removal

We provide legal advice to achieve favorable options. One key difference between applications for asylum is where the immigrant applies from—either at a U.S. border (including airports, seaports, and the like) or from within the United States. In order to be granted withholding of removal, the applicant must meet a higher standard than for asylum. Withholding of removal is another alternative form of relief for an individual fearing persecution in their country of origin.

Immigration petitions

Family-based immigration petitions. The Immigration and Nationality Act allows immigrants to come to the United States based on a relationship to a U.S. citizen or legal permanent resident. Family Based Petitions allow individuals in the United States to sponsor their family to immigrate to the United States.

Post-conviction criminal relief

It is important to have appropriate and professional advice for a competitive and effective defense. We have distinctive experience on post-conviction criminal relief, including immigrants with criminal convictions who are more vulnerable for being target for deportation.

Strategy Sessions

Immigration law is complex. .. very complex. Think of an immigration case as a complex puzzle where every piece must fit perfectly—one missing or misplaced piece, can result in denial or a long delay.

Because cases are won or lost on the smallest of details, when you schedule an initial strategy session with C&D, you expect that we will go into great detail about your immigration and family history. Most sessions last about an hour. You must promise to be prepared and honest—we promise to do the same.

Yes, we charge $150 for an initial strategy session. Immigration cases cannot be evaluated in a few minutes, it takes time to learn your story. It also takes time to explain how the law will impact you. Immigration law is not like personal injury, “one call” is not “all.”  Be wary of an immigration attorney who advertises free consultations.

If you retain us for a future legal service, we will credit your $150 toward your overall fee. If there is nothing we can do at this time, we will let you know that up front. We will also keep your information in our file so that if something changes, either in your personal circumstances, or in the law, we will be able to re-evaluate your situation. At a minimum you will walk out of our office having a complete and accurate understanding your immigration situation.

You may note we at C&D don’t use the term “consultation,” but a Strategy Sessions. Sometimes there are multiple ways to achieve your goal. We will discuss options, given you the positives and negatives of each, so you can decide the best path for you.

So, how do I set this up? Well, I am glad you asked. We try to make the process as easy as possible. Simply contact us, by phone or email. You will speak with Ingrid or Kim, our intake specialists, who will ask you questions about your background and the type of issue you have. You may be asked to provide documents before we meet. We try to find out as much about your case before we meet, so we can make our Session as productive as possible. You will pay the consultation fee when you schedule the Strategy Session. We can conduct Strategy Sessions in-person, by Zoom, Facetime or telephone.
